Center Stage Series: Pizza and a Movie
“Come, whisper to me whatever it is you want. You ain’t never had a friend like me.” That’s what the Genie sings to Aladdin in Disney’s 2019 live-action update of this great film. That song, and much of the music from the 1992 animated picture, returns with an all-star cast that includes Will Smith, Mena Massoud, and Naomi Scott. Like the genie, God invites us to whisper to God whatever it is we want, but God is not a magic genie granting us wishes. Still, we’ve never had a friend like Jesus, and this film can speak into our spiritual life.
On Friday, February 21, at 6:00pm, we’ll gather in the Fellowship Hall to watch "Aladdin" about a kindhearted “street urchin” and a power-hungry Grand Vizier as they vie for a magic lamp that has the power to make their deepest wishes come true. It’s rated PG for some action and peril. Film length is 128 minutes.
Bring $3/person for pizza, or $10/family. We’ll have snacks to go with it. We’ll discuss the film over dessert. Bring a comfy chair, such as a camping chair, if you like. Invite a friend to join you.

Singer/Songwriter Circle and Open Mic
Come join in an hour of musical sharing from some local singer/songwriters!
The Gruntlers is Ben Nash and Sarah Krause. Having met in the early 2000s as church musicians, their paths separated for some time but finally came back together for an art show in 2013. They soon discovered their shared childhood experience as homeschooled Christian kids and subsequent departure from both the beliefs and culture. When the conversation came back to music, they decided they had to work together.
Ben and Sarah collaborated with different musicians, and for a time formed the band QA. Now they’re applying what they’ve learned to their duo work as the The Gruntlers. Whether it’s selected jazz standards, contemporary covers, or originals influenced by a smattering of styles, they hope you’ll be moved by their music.
Ashley Bowman plays 11 instruments! She has been playing piano since she was 3 years old. Ashley played bass in bands in New York, Alaska, and Wisconsin. She played piano professionally for a theater company in Alaska. She has been a singer/songwriter on and off throughout the years. Ashley toured the country twice with a choir. Her closest thing to a claim to fame is that one of

I Am Jazz Community Reading
Join Building A Safer Evansville (BASE) and EFPL in a community reading of "I Am Jazz" co-written by transgender advocate Jazz Jennings.
