July 20 - Dog Days of Summer

Here is a short description of the Guest House that I use on flyers:

Evansville is centrally located in Southern Wisconsin, a short 24 miles from downtown Madison and the University of Wisconsin, 20 miles from Janesville, 25 minutes from Monroe Wisconsin and the historic Swiss village of New Glarus.  Evansville is home to several wonderful vintage stores, The Vintage Roost, 100 Proof Design, and Vintage Charm clothing store.  The Night Owl, Pete’s Inn, and the recently debuting Grove Market are all within walking distance of your stay. Take time for a famous Wisconsin Friday night fish fry in the area or laze with a cup of coffee and homemade triple chocolate scone at the Grove Market.  Stroll down Main Street and take a walking tour of Evansville’s varied architectural homes,  Or relax in the newly restored historic Eager Free Public Library with a good book and learn about the city’s history.  The Night Owl hosts Trivia on Thursday evening, Pete’s throws a great meat raffle on Thursday afternoons, and Creekside Place hosts a Cruise Night the first Thursday of the month, May through September.  Lake Leota Park is within walking distance with fishing, picnic areas, swimming pool, Frisbee golf, playground equipment and ball diamonds.  Evansville Country Club, a public course, offers 18 holes of challenging golf during the season.  Rock and Green counties have wonderful bike trails and backroads for relaxing motorcycle rides.

Mike & Jamie McCloskey have been playing their unique blend of acoustic genres since 2010. After the release of Mike’s “Blues, Swings, and Other Things” CD in 2009, he starting inviting his son Jamie to join him on upright bass while Mike played guitar and ukulele. With setlists including popular blues, rock, country, jazz and occasional Irish tunes, they might be the ones responsible for all that foot-stomping going on in the Dane County area. With special guests often showing up to join them on stage, you never know what to expect.

In this interactive session, we’ll explore alternative ways of thinking about what is classically known as “time management” and share practices that can support your ability to prosper within inevitable constraints of time and space.  We’ll also explore the four phases of project management and why collaboration with others is so critical to achieving successful outcomes

Sarah Carroll is the developer and lead facilitator of the HR@UW Competencies Program within the HR Communities of Practice (HR CoP) Office in the Office of Human Resources at UW–Madison. The HR CoP office was formed in 2015 to foster the development of communities of practice (CoPs) among human resources professionals across UW–Madison.  Sarah has a M.A. in education with an emphasis in adult learning and organizational development, and 15 years of human resources experience, including recruitment, on-boarding, training and staff development, in a variety of settings including non-profits, healthcare, the performing arts, and information technology.
