Registered Nurse Barbara Buttchen has been named a Regional Caregiver of the Year by Maxim Healthcare Services (Maxim), a national provider of home healthcare, personal and behavioral care.
Buttchen was selected by a panel of judges for her impactful contributions to the home healthcare community. This honorable recognition is part of Maxim’s Caregiver of the Year Award program, which celebrates nurses, home healthcare aides, and behavioral direct care workers. These employees play a vital role in providing compassionate, holistic care to our patients, both those who are medically fragile and those who require behavioral and community support.
“Barbara’s compassion and perseverance makes such a difference in the lives of her patients and their families,” said Nathaniel Carrier, Operations Manager of the local Maxim office. “We are incredibly proud to have Barbara as part of the Maxim team and we congratulate her for this much deserved recognition.”
With more than fifty years of nursing experience, Buttchen is known as one of the most selfless, caring, kind, and hard-working individuals that is more concerned about others’ well being than her own. She extends caregiving to her personal life with activities such as delivering Meals on Wheels to individuals in need, providing care to a friend that has Alzheimer's, and also lending her expertise to a friend’s husband that is wheelchair bound while they travel, so that the vacation can be safe and enjoyable.
Buttchen always maintains a positive attitude when caring for others. She is grateful for the support she receives from Maxim because it empowers her to do what she loves most – being a nurse.
“Barbara is a true inspiration to others,” said Shannon Rake, the Clinical Manager who nominated Buttchen. “She is always the first person to volunteer to help, and to say thank you, even for the smallest of things.”
Buttchen is one of four regional award winners and was selected from hundreds of nominations from across the country. She will be presented with the award during a ceremony on September 19, 2023, where the company will also announce the national winner who will receive Maxim’s John “Doc” Langley National Caregiver of the Year Award.
