Evansville Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Announces Recipient of it’s LoveLocal Microgrant Program
The Evansville Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is pleased to announce the recipient of our LoveLocal Business Microgrant. We are awarding a grant of $1000 to the Blue Devil Bowl towards replacing their main door as part of an overall energy efficiency and business beautification effort.
Criteria for grant selection included need, investment, and impact on the local business and community. An independent committee of the Evansville Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism, which included current and retired business leaders were tasked with reviewing the half of dozen applicants; all of which were deserving.
The replacement of the door will improve energy efficiency for the building; leading to lower energy bills and a more sustainable business. The new door as part of a larger exterior refresh of the building will contribute to the overall look of the downtown and the community. The project will utilize local businesses to complete the work, furthering the impact of the grant on the community.
Tiffany & Joel Bessire purchased the Blue Devil Bowl in September 2019 and provide a vital service for the community by offering a local year-round entertainment option to individuals and families. Since that time they have become an integral part of the community; offering a location for fundraisers for various causes,becoming involved in the business community, and supporting the school district and residents. Even while dealing with the inevitable impacts of the pandemic on themselves; they stepped up to support the community, organizing a Virtual Tip Jar for bartenders and servers, and offered free lunches to those in need.
The Evansville Area Chamber of Commerce & Tourism is a membership-based organization; providing promotion and support to local business and the community through programs, services, and events.
